I occasionally have this conversation with myself, looking at my snack-filled pantry and going "hold on! if I keep giving in to this impulse, I may one day entirely forget how to make myself a quick but satisfying meal!" so I will go and do that instead for a few days until I have demonstrated to myself that my capacity for improvising a quick bite is not yet ruined
Good callout on cast iron cookware though, got some PTSD flashbacks from the days I spent carefully cross-referencing various tutorials and wasting way too much oil for an outcome I wouldn't even have known how to clearly identify
